Man Dies After Being Hit By Train Near Darlington Railway Station

A man has died after being hit by a train near to Darlington railway station last night.
Officers from the British Transport Police and Durham Constabulary along with the ambulance service were called to the incident just shortly after midnight.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and his identity is not yet known.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said:
"Our officers were called out to an area near to Darlington station shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 23 September following reports of a person being hit by a train.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family."
