Two-thousand employees of the steelworks on Teesside will get paid today, SSI UK have confirmed in a statement this lunchtime.
It had been feared the Thai owners might not have the cash for a reported £5-million wage bill.
In a written statement to Star Radio, SSI UK said:
"This month’s pay roll is being processed today and salaries will be paid into individual bank accounts during the course of today."
Production at SSI in Redcar was stopped last week.
Hundreds of people turned out to a rally last night in support of steel making.
Paul Warren, from the Community trade union, admits things don't look good - and wants potential investors to come forward.
The director of industry body UK Steel, Gareth Stace, is appealing to the government to step in.
The steel industry's suffered from falling prices - but the Chancellor George Osborne insists he has been offering support.
But, Paul Warren, from the Community trade union says it's not enough.
County Durham MP Phil Wilson is also calling on the Government to help save Teesside's steel industry.
